what makes for a cheaper winter vacation: hawaii or florida?

i’d like to spend xmas 2007 and new year’s eve 2008 somewhere warm. i’m just looking for a beach vacation and maybe a little nature sightseeing. is it cheaper to do so in florida or in hawaii – and where in those states is a good locale for a cheap warm water getaway? i’m mainly looking for a comparison of lodging and food costs – i have free airfare

Florida is always cheaper. Hawaii is ridiculously expensive.
